What is typically in a full share? What can I find in a half share?

What you will find in your share will vary based on availability and season. Typically, a full share will contain twice as many products as a half share. However, a half share will not always contain the same items as a full share.

How affordable is this?
Listed below is a sample full share with non-organic food pricing versus comparable organic food pricing. A full share with CROPS costs $48.

What if I can no longer eat a full share? Or a half share is not enough for me? Can I change it?
Yes. Members can change their share at any time.

Can I choose what I want in my share?
No. When supporting local and regional farms, different seasons provide different selections of fruits and vegetables depending on what's ripe at order time. All full and half shares will contain the same items selected carefully by CROPS for the best quality and variety. Members will have the opportunity to suggest items to CROPS they would like to see included in delivery, but final selection will be dependent on what's available. Members can visit CROPS online for a list of recipes that will assist them in making the most out of their groceries.

What happens if I can't pay for my next delivery?
If you are unable to make a payment for the next delivery, you will not receive your grocery share for the following delivery. You will still remain a member. There is a limit of two missed payments. If you miss more than two payments, you will no longer be a member and will have to join the waiting list for membership. However, due to the limited opportunity to join this service, regularly missing payments is highly discouraged.

What if I pay for a share and cannot pick it up?
You are responsible for picking up your share on the day and during the time allotted for pick-up. Distributed food is perishable, therefore no shares will be reserved if a member cannot pick it up. Neither can a member retrieve a share before the pick-up date. Money will not be refunded for shares that are not picked up. If you are unable to pick up a share, please inform us ahead of time of a stand-in that will pick up your share for you. If you can't find a stand-in, we will try to locate someone to purchase your share, but there is no guarantee we will do so.

What if I'm not a member? Is there anything that I can purchase?
Yes. There will be specialty items sold during the pick-up times that will be available to anyone for purchase.

Can I share a share with someone else?
Yes and no. You can choose to split the share and the payments with anyone. However, only one person can sign up for the service.

Are there any penalties for leaving the club?
No. You can leave the club at any time. If you wish to rejoin, contact the Earth Ethics Institute. Do note that if you request to rejoin, you will be placed at the end of the waiting list until a position is open.

Is the food buying club meant to replace grocery shopping?
No. The food buying club is meant to supplement your nutrition with organic produce. A full share may not be enough for families of more than four, so it therefore cannot be their sole source of fruits, vegetables, and legumes. In addition, we do not provide dairy or meat for those who consume them in their diet. And at this moment, we do not provide grains.
